Solitude
Solitude is a window into the quiet beauty of Yellowstone in winter — fresh snow on a solitary tree, coyote footprints leading into the forest, wildlife at home in a harsh environment. Steam from thermal features softens the atmosphere, shifts and recedes, alternately revealing and hiding the landscape. These images have a stark, at times ethereal, beauty, unspoiled by human presence. They give me a sense of peace — of being alone but not lonely.
